Eli Whitney made more than the cotton gin. He also designed and manufactured this .44-caliber revolver starting in 1848.
This Dragoon was adopted by Colt in 1849 and became part of Colt’s Army and Navy weaponry collection. The engraving on the cylinder features a mounted cavalry officer, which was the theme of the engraving for both the Army and the Navy models. This version bears “Model U.S.N.” on the engraving.
This replica .44 caliber revolver is finished in antique grey with polished wood grip and weighs 3½ pounds with 13½ inches overall length.
