Approximately year 1040AD, Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar was born in Vivar spain. Twenty-three years later, Rodrigo was chosen by King Ferdinand I to battle for the city. Rodrigo defeated his opponent and went on to future battles, said never to lose a one-on-one battle, giving him the name El Cid Campeador, meaning chief champion.
Our Medieval El Cid Shield is made in burnished 20 gauge steel with bronzed embossing. The Medieval El Cid Shield can be hung on the wall and is complete with a back-mounted bracket that allows one or two swords to be fixed behind the shield for an impressive wall display. The El Cid Shield measures 24 inches in length and 17 inches in width.
