The best part about dressing up in Renaissance costume during medieval times was the jewelry. Hand crafted and made from solid materials, medieval jewelry was a hit and has been passed down for generations. Renaissance pendants were especially sought after because Queens and ladies of wealth wore their pendants to every Renaissance festival. We know you can find a nice medieval pendant for your costume or for practical wear.
Somewhere around the 14th Century, medieval pendants really started to make an impact. Usually made of silver and in various shapes and sizes, pendants were worn to show devotion, protection or even superstition. A lot of the pendants adorned in the Renaissance were pectoral crosses, small crucifixes and even lockets. Jewels and crystals made their debut in pendants a bit later. The gems were even covered with enamel to encase imagery of religion, moral or allegoric nature. Worn on a chain or lace ribbon, medieval pendants have been around for a very long time and continue to be a fashion statement today.
