Different climates require different types of armor. In severe weather conditions such as in the winter months, or heavy rain, one would prefer to wear a covering on the head. During medieval times this covering was typically rags and straw that were packed under a chain hood. Not only did this keep the head warm and dry it provided extra protection from blows.
This black collar and cap is a modern version. It is made from multiple layers of cotton and felt to last for years to come. The collar measures 21 inches while the cap measures 9 inches. A leather strap located at the neck allows the collar to be tightened for a secure fit.
