The British Army in India may have considered themselves vastly superior to their opponents, but they suffered enough damage on the battle fields there to have learned to respect, if not fear, the slicing power of the Indian Talwar blade. With a curve similar to that of a scimitar but thicker throughout its length, the Talwar features a wide, deep fuller groove for maximum flexibility. This particular model also features an adorned hilt with raised embellishments in the Eastern style, a disk-pommel set perpendicular to the shaft of the grip, small quillian, and a sinuous snake finger-guard.
This sword measures 39” overall with a 33” 1055 carbon steel blade and weighs in at just 0.4 oz under 3 pounds. A leather and wood scabbard with brass fittings is included.
