The Gladius sword, a surprisingly light 18 ounces with a high-carbon steel and hand-sharpened blade is nearly 27” long with a 19” blade. The blade is treated with a matte-finished anti-rust finish that is baked onto the blade before it’s sharpened. This finely crafted sword features a full-tang design and a grip with a classically inspired guard and pommel. The rugged hilt of this sword is crafted from polypropylene and the sword includes a cordura sheath featuring a belt loop for easy wear. The Gladius design originated with the Iberians and the enterprising and always-ready-to-adopt-technology Romans borrowed the design and used it widely. The key features of the design include a long, thin point and a wasp-waisted shape on the blade.
