It was always possible to drive the point of a weapon through the rings of a mail shirt or shear it with a good cut. This often drove the damaged rings deep into the wound. Even if the blow didn't cut the mail, the blunt trauma alone was enough to break bone and damage internal organs. A thick, padded garment worn under a mail shirt greatly reduced the risk of these types of injuries. Our gambeson is of a type worn from the early middle ages well on through the Renaissance. Hangs Approx. 32" and weighs 1 1/2 lbs.
Due to the nature of special occasion clothing, all sales are considered final. Unworn items in original condition may be exchanged for another size within 2 days of receipt. Defective items will be replaced if returned in unworn condition
within 2 days of receipt. This does not mean we have to receive it within 2 days, but you must call us for an RA# (Return Authorization) within 2 business days. To protect yourself, please
inspect your items when you receive them and should you find an error, defect, or other problem please notify us immediately so we can correct it!
